VITAMIN B 12 AND IT'S IMPORTANCE
Vitamin B 12-Cabalamin, cyanocobalamin.
It is also known as the "Red Vitamin." B12 is made in the digestive system of a animals with the aid of intestinal bacteria. The mineral cobalt and the bacteria are necessary for it's production. Some nutritionists say that man cannot produce it. Others say that if a person eats a pure vegetarian diet, man's intestines which produce many of the B-Vitamins will also produce vitamin B12. Since God instituted for man a vegetarian diet, would he leave such a diet incomplete by omitting from it a necessary factor? Some people say that a vegetarian has to eat Brewers yeast or animal liver in order to get the necessary Vitamin B12. To those individuals one may say "Where do the animals, such as the cow, the Ox, or the elephant get their Vitamin B12 when they eat only grass"? It has been determined that all vegetarian animals can produce their own B-Vitamins, including Vitamins B12 in their intestines, and this includes man also if he's a vegetarian. B12 is thought to originate from bacterial fermentation of vegetable matter in the intestines. There is also evidence that whole grains, such as Wheat and Oats, supply the full complex of B-Vitamins including B12. Three ounces of Oat-Meal for breakfast and three ounces of Whole Wheat Bread will supply enough B12 for the average adult for the day. While B12 is abundant in foods of animal origin, it is believed that fermented foods such as Sauer -Karaut, Miso, Sourdough Bread, infact any Fermentable Carbohydrate will help intestinal bacteria synthesize B12. Other foods that contain vitamin B12 also ar Green Beans, Kelp, other Seaweeds, Soybean meal, Avocados, Bananas, Tempeh, Eggs, Sunflower seeds, Pollen, and milk.
Those vegetarians who eat a lot of cooked vegetables may have a deficiency of B12, but not those who eat Raw fruits, vegetables, and grains. We are told " in grains, fruits, vegetables and nuts are to be found all the food elements we need" (CD 313). B12 is essential for the production and regeneration of the RED BLOOD CELLS. It prevents Anaemia, and promotes Growth in Children. A deficiency causes Pernicious Anaemia,Chronic Fatigue, Sore mouth, Numbness, difficult in Concentrating. Other natural sources are Brewer's yeast, Comfrey leaves, Kelp, Peanut, Concord Grapes, Wheat Germ, Soybeans and Oats. Taken from Divine Prescription p 242.
